We are looking for a Senior Accountant with deep roots in industrial, manufacturing, and construction accounting based in Phoenix, AZ. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands the nuances of job costing, progress billing, WIP reporting, and manufacturing cost flows. Key Responsibilities
Construction Accounting
Manage construction accounting operations, including job costing, cost-to-complete analysis, and progress billing (AIA billing)
Maintain and analyze work-in-progress (WIP) schedules to ensure accurate revenue recognition
Collaborate with project managers and field operations on job cost tracking, change orders, and financial performance by project
Monitor contract profitability and flag cost overruns or margin erosion early
Manufacturing & Industrial Accounting
Support manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance analysis
Track raw material, labor, and overhead costs across production operations
Assist with physical inventory counts and reconciliation of inventory accounts
Partner with operations teams to understand cost drivers and support continuous improvement initiatives
Close, Reporting & Compliance
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Drive month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies
Assist with internal and external audits and provide necessary documentation
Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of accounting experience with a strong background in manufacturing and/or construction industries
Proven experience with construction progress billing, job costing, and WIP reporting
Solid understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory and standard costing
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise, QuickBooks Online, Sage, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with project managers, operations, and leadership
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CMA designation
Experience in both manufacturing and construction accounting environments
Familiarity with ERP systems used in industrial or construction settings (e.g., Sage 100/300, Procore)
