CompSource Mutual Insurance is seeking a sales and customer oriented individual to join our Agent facing, Underwriting Team.

The Underwriter I analyzes negotiates and prices workers’ compensation exposures on new and existing business at the direction and under the supervision of a more experienced underwriter or underwriting supervisor. The ideal candidate will excel in solving problems and data gathering and analysis.  

In this role, you will:

• Participate in the CompSource Underwriter Training program.  This program is specifically designed to provide the trainee with the foundational knowledge and skills to become a successful Worker’s Compensation Underwriter.  Through this program, you will learn to build and develop the skills needed to underwrite new and renewal business, develop business relationships and understand the responsibility of producing a profitable book of business.
• Determine appropriate premium rates and class codes based on the business operations.
• Prepare quotations for policyholders, process renewal policies and makes adjustments to payroll, rates and premiums as needed.
• Respond to policyholder and agent questions regarding applications, renewal changes and workers’ compensation policies, procedures, and rules.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree or CPCU preferred.
• 4 years of business office experience. Advanced education may be considered in lieu of work experience.
• Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
• Ability to obtain Oklahoma issued Property and Casualty Producer license

  • Required for Direct Team Underwriters.
  • Required for Agent Team Underwriters.

Other Requirements

This position requires the physical ability to perform extensive repetitive motions in using a computer and the routine use of other office equipment. Work is typically performed while sitting and does not require heavy lifting.
