Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthend close process, maintaining accurate financial records, and preparing reconciliations and workpapers that ensure the integrity of the company’s financial statements. This role plays a key part in internal reporting, audit preparation, and the accuracy of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
Assist with the monthly financial close process to ensure timely and accurate internal financial statements.
Prepare and review income statement and balance sheet supporting schedules.
Verify the accuracy of revenue and expense accounts through detailed analysis and workpapers.
Account Reconciliations
Perform monthly reconciliations for accounts such as:
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
Fixed assets and accumulated depreciation
Accrued expenses
Workinprocess and inventory accounts
Maintain comprehensive reconciliation workpapers and ensure all variances are investigated and resolved.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare VIS reporting for management.
Support balance sheet reconciliation packages and expense reporting.
Ensure all financial results are supported by accurate and complete documentation.
Audit & Tax Support
Assist with yearend audit preparation, including providing schedules and supporting documentation.
Participate in the yearend physical inventory count.
Provide necessary financial information to external tax preparers.
Payroll Accounting
Complete weekly and monthly payroll reconciliations, ensuring payroll expenses and related liabilities are recorded accurately.
Requirements
CPA or near CPA completion
3+ years of relevant experience
