Position Description
PROJECT ACCOUNTANT BELLINGHAM, WA
The Project Accountant is responsible for proactively working with project teams to ensure job cost and billing information is accurate and timely. Performs the following duties:
Essential Functions
- Budgeting and Cost Accounting
- Collaborate with project teams to develop project budgets to be imported into accounting system.
- Enter and process job cost and budget adjustments.
- Process job charge outs per contract
- Reconcile committed costs.
- Review and track subcontractor lien waivers
- Billing and Invoicing
- Coordinate with project teams to prepare accurate and timely client invoices.
- Ensure invoices comply with contractual terms and client requirements.
- Prepare T&M Billings and Billing Backup Reports
- Record Accounts Receivable payments and monitor AR Aging reports.
- File monthly and quarterly State Sales and Excise Tax Reports
- Record customer deposits
- Project Closeout:
- Lead the financial aspects of project closeout activities.
- Verify all project costs and reconcile against contract billing rates and markups.
- Prepare final financial reports and documentation for project completion.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

- Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the process of maintaining general ledgers.

- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Position Requirements
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or equivalency required; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field of study preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in the construction industry and cost accounting preferred.
- Working knowledge of Construction ERP Software, Vista (Viewpoint) preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation - $30 to $40 per hour
